About Visha Nima
We are a registered non-profit organization of Visha Nima Vaishnava families living in the USA and Canada. A son or a daughter married to a non-Visha Nima and their children are still Visha Nima Vaishnavs for us and we encourage them to actively participate in the organization.
Our Purpose and Vision
- Enhance social interaction among the Visha Nima Vaishnav group members living in USA & Canada as well as with those living in India/Other countries.
- Create a medium for sharing and caring among Visha Nima Vaishnav families living in USA & Canada.
- Educate youth about our culture and values and why they are important to maintain
Our History
Our parents, grandparents, or great grandparents lived mainly in one of the following towns.
- Bakor
- Lunawada
- Mahudha
- Megharaj
- Modasa
- Pandarwada
Over the last 50-70 years or so, many of us left our native towns for higher education and for better economic opportunities and settled in many places all over the world. We have now truly become a global community. For whatever reason, we may have left our parental homes, but we are still Visha Nima Vaishnavs at heart and follow our culture and values, no matter where we are. We are currently a total of about 2,000 families globally.
How do we pray and worship?
Although each one is free to pray in one’s own ways, most of us mainly follow the Pushtimarg founded by Mahaprabhuji Vallabhacharya who was born on Vaishakha Vad Ekadashi in Vikram Samvat 1535 (AD 1479).
